Fall is here and that means the OBX is ready to host some of the regions best events and festivals. From film to music, seafood to wildlife, there is something for everyone in the family this fall on the Outer Banks. In this post, we give you all the information you need to enjoy the local festivities during your Outer Banks vacation. 

Taking place September 21-23 this film festival features surfing and ocean-related documentaries. The films are all shown outside at some of the OBX's beautiful sunset venues. On September 21 the films can be viewed at Jennette's Pier in historic Nags Head. The following day you can head over to the Dare County Arts Council in Manteo. The last film will be the Outer Banks Brewing Station in Kill Devil Hills. Tickets are free, and there are accompanying events at each show. Enjoy these great movies celebrating the ocean, it is after all, what brings us all to the OBX 

For all the Oenophiles visiting the Outer Banks, this is the perfect event to enjoy during your stay on the Outer Banks. The Lost Colony Wine and Culinary Festival features seminars, tastings, live music and amazing food. This two-day event is a great way to learn about regional wineries such as; Duplin Winery, Childress Vineyards, and Vineyards of the Scuppernong, just to name a few. Local restaurants such as Argyles, Lone Cedar, and Sugar Creek are just a few of the great vendors participating in this year's event. On the 29th enjoy the Vintners Dinner at the stunning Duck Woods Coutnry Club. This four-course meal features not only incredible food, prepared by local chefs, but also live music. The next day you can enjoy the Grand Tasting featuring several regional wines. Seminars take place all day covering a wide range of interesting topics. Tickets cost $125.00 per person for the Vitners Dinner, $25.00 per seminar and $50.00 per person for the Grand Tasting. 

Blue Skies...Blue Water...and Bluegrass is the theme of this event and we're sure you'll agree, bluegrass under a Carolina blue sky... is the best bluegrass! Taking place in historic Manteo at the Roanoke Island Park this three-day event takes place from October 4-7. Featuring fifteen of the biggest bands in Bluegrass, this is the place to be this year if you want to get your bluegrass fix. Tickets are $45.00 for a single day pass or $155.00 for a three-day pass. Duck Jazz Festival Trumpet
Get out the dancing shoes and get ready to move and groove to some great Jazz. This family friendly event takes place in Duck, NC from October 6-8. Featuring seven bands and free admission. Activities include live music, music lessons, dance lessons and all sorts of other activities. Concessions and great food are available at the event all weekend. Don't forget to get the weekend started right by enjoying the free outdoor movie. This year the festival is showing The Muppet Movie. Popcorn and concessions will be available for purchase at the movie. Make sure to bring a beach blanket or lawn chair. 

Wings Over Water Wildlife Festival 
Spanning the entire length of the Outer Banks, from Ocracoke to Corolla this event is so full of outdoor activities it's impossible to even begin to describe all you can do. However, if you love nature, birding, wildlife art, paddling or natural history this is simply going to be one of the best events you can attend. With all sorts of amazing guided tours and educational opportunities, this six-day event is by far the best way to learn all about the OBX's diverse and interesting natural resources and wildlife. Tours, trips, and seminars cost between $25.00 to $50.00 and are all guided by professionals and leading experts in their respective fields.  

Outer Bank Seafood Festival 
Go ahead and start dieting now. October 21, 2017, is a day you're going to want to wear some pants with a little give. With the self-proclaimed goal of honoring the Outer Banks's seafood heritage and culture, you can bet this is an event you don't want to miss. The Outer Banks Seafood Festival is an extravaganza of seafood, music, and fun.The festival features not only incredible seafood from some of the areas best vendors, but also a boat and tackle show, and live music. This is a can't miss event while vacationing on the OBX. Admission is just five dollars with off-site parking and shuttle services provided. 
On November 25, 2017, the beautiful Elizabethan Gardens are transformed into a winter wonderland of holiday lights. Located just across from the Lost Colony's Waterside Theater this event stays open until January 20, 2018. Take a stroll thru the manicured and elegant Elizabethan Gardens and enjoy the magic of the holidays. Warm up by an open-air fire on the Great Lawn and take in the beauty of the gardens with friends and family. Tickets are $11.00 for adults, Kids ages 6-17 are $9.00 and ages 5 and under are $6.00. this event is an outdoor event so be mindful of the weather.
