Although many think of the Outer Banks as only a summer destination, more and more families are realizing that the Outer Banks has tons of fun activities for the family, especially during spring break! No matter the size or energy level of your family, spring break on the beach can be the best vacation yet. Here are some of the upcoming activities for your family on the Outer Banks:

Easter Egg-stravaganza at the Historic Whalehead Club

The Easter Bunny will be paying a visit for the annual Easter egg hunt and other fun activities such as face painting, balloon art, spoon races, jellybean counting, and of course a pony ride (When in Corolla..). This event will take place on Friday April 18th, 2014 from 1:00pm-3:00pm and is FREE!

Kitty Hawk Kites Fly into Spring & Easter Eggstravaganza

This event includes two fun filled days of activities, kites, and Easter Eggs! Large show kites will be at Jockey’s Ridge State Park and there will be free stunt kite lessons provided by Kitty Hawk Kites. This event will be on Friday and Saturday from 10am-4pm with egg hunts each day at 11:00pm at the Nags Head store. Pictures with the Easter Bunny will be from 12:00pm-1:00pm.

Free Admission to the Wright Brothers Memorial

The National Park Service will be waiving the admission free to the Wright Brothers National Memorial on April 19th through April 20th, 2014. Visit the memorial to learn about the Wright Brothers, First Flight, and the history of aviation. With educational activities for the kids and the walk to the memorial, this would be a fun day for all!

Hoppin’ 5k Fun Run & Egg Hunt

The Dare County Department of Parks & Recreation presents 5k Fun Run & Egg Hunt on Friday, April 18th, 2014 starting at 8am. All proceeds from the 5k run will benefit Christine Walker, a local battling breast cancer. At 10am NCDPR will have their Easter Egg Hunt following the race. This event will take place at the College of the Albemarle in historic Manteo.

Visit the NC Aquarium

With some many great exhibits, animals, and activities, the NC Aquarium on Roanoke Island is a must see. Visit and see the local wildlife on display, including our alligators, otters, sharks, and more! Every day at 9:00am, 11:00am, and 1:30pm see the Aquarium shark dive where experts interact with sharks in the shark tank.
