Mardi Gras is French for Fat Tuesday and associated with the town of New Orleans. However, Mardi Gras is not just important to New Orleans but to other countries around the world. Here are just a few:

Canada: Quebec has a many Mardi Gras celebrations with festivals and street fairs.
Sweden: Fat Tuesday was a celebration and the only day Swedes could eat Semlor (a pastry) but it is now sold in stores during the entire season of lent.
