Celebrate Halloween on the OBX with these Great Events

October is here and that means Halloween is around the corner and there is no spookier place to celebrate Halloween than the Outer Banks. The OBX is famous for great entertainment and knowing how to throw a great family-friendly party. This fall is no different and the OBX once again has tons of great family activities for everyone to enjoy this Halloween. Here are a few of the great events going on this October celebrating all things Haloween.
Have you picked out your costume yet? Well now is the time to show off your creative side at the Outer Banks Halloween Parade of Costumes. This family-friendly event takes place at Kelly's Restaurant in Nags Head on October 29th. Open to all ages, locals and visitors alike will enjoy this festive event. With prizes, local live music, food and of course trick our treating what more could you ask for? Football you say. Of course, it is Sunday so the games will all be on inside the restaurant for those who just can't miss a touchdown.
Prizes will be awarded for the best costume for male and female contestants in the following age groups. 5 and under, Ages 6-12, 13-adult. There is also an award for the best family/group and couple awards. Now, visitors, a little side note here. Local OBX folks are serious about parades and costumes so be prepared to have put on your "A" game if you want to be competitive. Of course, you don't have to have a costume at all to come and enjoy the fun. The event starts at 2 pm with a pre-parade party with the parade starting at 3 pm. Spectators can gather on Kelly's lawn. Registration is free for this event and begins on October 13.

Begining on October 26, the RC Theater Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills becomes ground zero for all things scary on the big screen. You guessed it the 2nd annual International Halloween Film Festival kicks off two days of films for those who love all things scary or horror. This event is best enjoyed by adults and kids over the age of 15 with some exceptions. However, with the Horror genre being one of the most popular in the world we just couldn't leave you Horror movie junkies out so here we go.
As mentioned the events kick off Thursday, October 26 at 1 pm, in Kill Devil Hills at the RC Theater. Tickets cost $12.00 for a day pass or $30.00 for a three-day pass. Tickets include admission to all of the movies, after show events, photo opportunities and panel discussions. Award categories are broken down into short and featured length films. Short films are less than 50 minutes and feature films are over 50 minutes in length. One of the fun things when looking at the schedule are all the local movies. Some were even filmed right here on the OBX or in the
near by area.

On Saturday, October 28th from 11 am to 4 pm, make sure to drop by for a fun family-friendly event in Kill Devil Hills. This is a great place for the little ones to enjoy the Halloween holiday. Specifically set up for the younger crowd in your family with lots of free games, costume contests, food, prizes and more sugar than any dentist would allow the kiddos are sure to have a blast. The event is free and you can just stop in for a few minutes or spend hours. Rumor has it there will be a bouncy house! What kid doesn't love trick or treating and a bouncy house? The K-Mart parking lot becomes kid paradise for the afternoon! To get to this even just head over to K-Mart in Kill Devil Hills.

If you have never been to the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island you are in for a treat this Halloween. Returning for its 13th year the annual Trick or Treat Under the Sea event is a great way enjoy Halloween and the sea, at this family fun event. Open from 6 pm-8pm on Thursday, October 26 and Friday the 27th kids are invited to come in their costume and explore all the amazing exhibits at the aquarium while trick or treating in the what the aquarium calls "ghoulish giggles and frightful fun".
