October is here and that means Halloween is around the corner and there is no spookier place to celebrate Halloween than the Outer Banks.  The OBX is famous for great entertainment and knowing how to throw a great family-friendly party. This fall is no different and the OBX once again has tons of great family activities for everyone to enjoy this Halloween. Here are a few of the great events going on this October celebrating all things Haloween.

With prizes, local live music, food and of course trick our treating what more could you ask for? Football you say. Of course, it is Sunday so the games will all be on inside the restaurant for those who just can't miss a touchdown.

Prizes will be awarded for the best costume for male and female contestants in the following age groups. 5 and under, Ages 6-12, 13-adult. There is also an award for the best family/group and couple awards. Now, visitors, a little side note here. Local OBX folks are serious about parades and costumes so be prepared to have put on your "A" game if you want to be competitive. Of course, you don't have to have a costume at all to come and enjoy the fun. The event starts at 2 pm with a pre-parade party with the parade starting at 3 pm. Spectators can gather on Kelly's lawn. Begining on October 26, the RC Theater Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills becomes ground zero for all things scary on the big screen. You guessed it the 2nd annual International Halloween Film Festival kicks off two days of films for those who love all things scary or horror. This event is best enjoyed by adults and kids over the age of 15 with some exceptions. However, with the Horror genre being one of the most popular in the world we just couldn't leave you Horror movie junkies out so here we go.

As mentioned the events kick off Thursday, October 26  at 1 pm, in Kill Devil Hills at the RC Theater. Tickets cost $12.00 for a day pass or $30.00 for a three-day pass. Tickets include admission to all of the movies, after show events, photo opportunities and panel discussions. Award categories are broken down into short and featured length films. Short films are less than 50 minutes and feature films are over 50 minutes in length. One of the fun things when looking at the schedule are all the local movies. Some were even filmed right here on the OBX or in the near by area.
