What's New on the OBX in 2015
The beautiful landscape, rolling waves, historical landmarks and spectacular sunsets are mainstays here on the Outer Banks, but there are a few additions to these great barrier islands this year that you might want to check out on your 2015 Outer Banks vacation. Here are 4 new features to add to your vacation to-do-list that the OBX didn’t have before:
First Flight Adventure Park
Fun for all ages and skill sets, the First Flight Adventure Park, which opened during the spring of 2014, is quickly becoming a favorite among OBX visitors and adventurous locals, too. With more than 48 different obstacle elements suspended 50 feet in the air, this new Nags Head attraction is great for wedding parties, corporate outings, birthday parties, or even to get the kids to expend some of that never-ending energy. There are also 7 new challenges being introduced when they reopen for the season in May of 2015. So check out the First Flight Adventure Park for an exciting experience in a beautiful setting: suspended atop the marsh with a 360-degree view from the sound to the sea. For the first time ever, the Outer Banks will host an OBX Brewfest on May 31 from 3-8 p.m. With more than 20 breweries from the state and even more from all over the country, this event is fit for your inner beer connoisseur. Enjoy an unlimited sampling of brews for the duration of the event with a commemorative glass given upon admission. There will also be a soda garden and game zone for the kid in you, as only adults 21 and over are allowed admission. The first-annual OBX Brewfest will also feature live music from beginning to end, so draw straws to see who gets to stay behind with the kids in your Outer Banks vacation rental and head out for a fun evening full of live entertainment and tasty brews! Pok’s Art Asian Fusion Kitchen
This new Kitty Hawk restaurant is taking the area by storm with unique flavors and authentic tastes! Chef Pok and his brother Art are melding together dishes from their travels as well as passed down-family recipes bringing an eclectic array of Asian cuisine to the Outer Bank. Outer Banks Distilling
"Two brewers and two bartenders had a dream to bring back the tradition of rum on the Outer Banks…” and they did. Outer Banks Distilling, located in historic downtown Manteo, is the first legal distillery on the OBX. Recently opened, they offer daily tours of the distilling facility at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Make a whole day of it: walk around beautiful downtown Manteo and swing into one of the Outer Banks’ newest additions. For more information, click here.
These are just a few of the many great things coming to the Outer Banks this year. During your 2015 OBX vacation, be sure to check out a couple of these exciting additions for a brand new experience!
