St. Patrick's Day Events on the Outer Banks

Irish eyes will be smilin' down on these St. Patrick's Day events on the OBX. Bring your family, bring your friends! Don't forget to wear your St. Paddy's Day best.

*Kelly's Running of the Leprechauns 5k & 10k

St. Patrick's Day on the OBXChannel your inner leprechaun and sign up for Kelly's Running of the Leprechaun 5k or 10k, which starts and ends at Kelly's Outer Banks Restaurant & Tavern on Saturday, March 12 at 8a.m. in Nags Head. You'll work up an appetite, which will surely be satisfied post-race with a buffet of Irish stew, Irish soda bread, sugar cookies, sweet potato biscuits and beer, and an awards ceremony at the tavern.

*St. Patrick's Day Parade on the OBX

The 27th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade on the Outer Banks starts at 1p.m. on Sunday, March 13 at the intersection of Bladen St. and Virginia Dare Trail (Beach Road). This year’s parade highlights the many ways people recreate on the Outer Banks, and it’s also about the Wearing of the Green in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. With over 100 participants and over 8,000 parade-goers, it's slated as the largest St. Paddy's Day parade in North Carolina. Meet up for a free parade celebration at Kelly's Restaurant & Tavern for entertainment, awards and free hot dogs for all till they're gone! *First Flight Cruisers Shamrock Show

This OBX car show features over 200 vehicles and is a favorite for local and out-of-town car enthusiasts. The First Flight Cruisers Shamrock Show and Poker Run is held on Saturday, March 19 at 100 Veterans Drive in Kill Devil Hills. It's open to everyone!

Easter Events on the Outer Banks

Right on the heels of St. Patrick's Day comes Easter. Hop over to a few of our favorite OBX holiday events for some eggcellent family fun and festivities.

*Easter EGGstravaganza in Kill Devil Hills

Easter events on the OBXThe Dare County Parks and Recreation Annual Easter EGGstravaganza is held Saturday, March 19 at the Family Recreation Park in Kill Devil Hills from 1:30-3p.m. This free family-friendly event features a wide variety of activities for children ages 10 and under, including three separate age groups hunting for over 5,000 eggs.

Pictures with the Easter Bunny are from 1:30-2:30p.m., so don't miss out. Everbunny loves the games and activities that happen from 1:30-3:00p.m. including tattoos, egg and spoon races, sack races, bean bag toss, ring toss, pin the tail on the bunny, sidewalk decorating and much more. It's a kid-friendly favorite for sure. If the weather doesn't cooperate that day, all activities will take place inside the Youth Center.

*Fly into Spring & Easter EGGstravaganza at Jockey's Ridge

Kitty Hawk Kites is kicking off the 2016 season with the annual Fly into Spring & Easter EGGstravaganza! Join the Kitty Hawk Kites crew Friday, March 25 and Saturday, March 26 at Jockey’s Ridge Crossing in Nags Head for a day of springtime fun. The Kite Festival takes place Friday & Saturday from 10a.m.-4p.m. at Jockey’s Ridge State Park. Enjoy fresh spring air, high flying kites, and an all around good time on the dunes.

The EGGstravaganza happens at Jockey’s Ridge Crossing, right across the street from the dunes. On Friday and Saturday there are Easter Egg Hunts throughout Jockey's Ridge Crossing starting at 11a.m. Hunts are broken down by age groups: 3 & under, 4-6, and 7-12. Keep an eye out for the coveted golden and silver eggs! It's BYOB (bring your own basket), so parents please remember to bring an Easter basket for your child’s goodies. Stick around to get your picture taken with the Easter Bunny from 12-1p.m. And, don't forget to bring your camera!

*Easter Eggstravaganza at the Elizabethan Gardens

What can we say, we love Easter Eggstravaganzas here on the OBX! The Easter Eggstravaganza at the Elizabethan Gardens in Manteo is held on Saturday, March 26 and is the largest on the OBX with over 10,000 eggs. This event has become an Outer Banks spring tradition held in the midst of the beautiful spring blooms featuring an egg scavenger hunt, photo opportunities, a homemade bake sale, egg roll on the Great Lawn, story time, educational crafts, games, an Easter bonnet and hat contest, and more kid-geared fun. It's a kid-friendly and family-approved event!
