Hatteras Island Summer Festivals

With its vast, unpopulated beaches and wilderness stretched thin between the Atlantic Ocean, Hatteras island summer festivals and the Pamlico Sound, Hatteras Island makes up more than half of the length of the entire Outer Banks of North Carolina. Freckled with seven quaint villages along the way, Hatteras Island is the quintessential beach getaway for anyone looking to reconnect with nature, themselves, or their families.
While quiet time is abundant on the island, there are always things to do to keep busy as well. No matter which village you are staying in, all Hatteras, NC vacation rentals are nestled near a handful of fun events and sites to check out. Kona Summer Concert Series: 25706 Hwy 12, Waves. May 15-July 31
A summer of live, waterfront music performances from the deck of REAL Watersports Flagship store in Waves Village, offering an evening of local bands, stunning sunsets, drinks, food and kiteboarding in a family-friendly atmosphere. The Hatteras Island Art Show: Rodanthe. July 3 and August 29-30.
More than 20 Outer Banks artists will be showcasing and selling their work at the Rodanthe-Waves-Salvo Community Center, just south of Liberty Gas Station. There you’ll find hand-drawn maps, candles, local photography, soaps, jewelry, sea glass, hula hoops, clothing, art prints, paintings, and more.
Summeritaville 2014. REAL Watersports, Waves. Friday, August 22.
Come enjoy local cuisine, cold beverages, a headline band, "beach bucket” raffle and more, including activities for kids. Tickets are $10 and children under 12 are admitted for FREE. 6-10 p.m.
Hatteras Wave Jam 2013- Cape Hatteras. Sept. 15-20
Part of an American Windsurfing tour, Wave Jam will feature wavesailing action from top national participants. There will also be nightly activities, parties and a beach cookout. Daily from 8a.m.-5p.m. For more information: click here.
Day at the Docks- Hatteras Village. Sept.19-20.
It began as a way to honor the spirit of Hatteras when the village recovered from Hurricane Isabel in 2003 and is meant to be a celebration of the Hatteras Island community and traditions of its watermen. The festival will feature commercial and charter fishing fleets as they offer a variety of cooking demonstrations, competitions, and a seafood cook-off. Live music will be played throughout the day and maritime-inspired games for kids will be available. Festivities will begin at 10am-5p.m. and finish up with the blessing of the fleet at 5:30pm.
