2015 Summer Events on the Outer Banks
Summer is almost here on the Outer Banks, and there are many events to visit with your family and friends during your Outer Banks vacation! Faire Days Summer Festival Series 2015
The 5th Annual Faire Days Outdoor Festival Series will be held this summer from June 3 to August 26 from 1 to 6 p.m. Stop by the Scarborough Faire Shopping Village in Duck for a variety of activities. Listen to live music, have your face painted, meet authors during book signings, color a tiki mask, and more! This is an Outer Banks summer event you do not want to miss. Movies on the Sound
You and your family can enjoy watching a movie by the sound in Duck and Manteo during your Outer Banks vacation! The gates will open at 7 p.m. at the Duck Town Green and the College of the Albemarle’s campus ball field. Movies that have been scheduled include Finding Nemo, The Wizard of Oz, The Princess Bride, and Big Hero 6. Other special events and activities, such as rock climbing, will also be available! Summer of Rock 2015 Concert Series
The Live at the Waterside series of concerts will be held at the Lost Colony again this year! Three groups have been scheduled to perform. You can see 1964: The Tribute on June 21, Jefferson Starship on July 12, and Resurrection – A Journey Tribute on August 2. A ticket package is also available to attend all three shows. Island Art Shows
While booking your Outer Banks vacation rentals and planning a vacation, make sure to schedule a trip to an Island Art Show at the Rodanthe-Waves-Salvo Community Center. The shows are a great way to see artwork by local artists. Artwork on display will include photography, handmade soaps, collages, local prints, and upcycled art. 37thAnnual Wright Kite Festival
The Wright Brothers National Memorial is a key part of the history of the Outer Banks. On July 18 and 19, the Wright Kite Festival will take place at the Wright Brothers National Memorial from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. While you learn about the history of flight, you can also learn how to fly different kites and make your own kite! The Outer Banks Run, Swim, Run & 5K "Splash and Dash” Series
The swimming and 5K events will take place by Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head on August 20. It is a great way to exercise during your Outer Banks vacation.
